Semester reflection
Through out this semester I feel that I've been able to develop an open mind when it comes to math. Math has always been a difficult class fro me because I've always been placed in the wrong class or been put with a bad teacher and this year I have been able to make a connection with my teacher two that I can be conferable enough to talk to him when I am struggling. This is the 2nd time I've take algebra 1 and last year I felt very uninterested in the class, it felt too easy and I never ha the time to ask questions and to get clarification. I decided to take algebra 1 again because I thought it would be an easy way to get an A and it would be a class that I would have to worry about. When I was a month into class I started to regret that design because I thought that I would restock in a class with a tom of homework that would be busy work, but it was already too late to switch. By the time the quarter ended I didn't think I would ever be happy about being in a math class fro the 2nd time. This year I have made so much progress. I thought i kew algebra really well but this class taught me I didn't. I went through lessons where I knew what was going on and was a bit bored but there were days that I was able to understand the basics of what we were learning and use my bad knowledge of the class to help me really understand the subjects we went over. If there is one skill I feel shows the progress I made and my current position in that class would be SOHCAHTOA. This is a basic trig concept that i never went over my previous year in math class. I loved this lesson because it brought everything I have ever learned together and made it all clear. This helped me understand how all the math concept work together and it helped simplify a lot of things. In this lesson I learned how to use the sin, tang, and co signs on the calculator which I now know I will be doing a lot in my future classes. A project that I feel helped develop my problem solve skills would be the POWS. POW's are very diverse and every problem uses different math concepts. The reason I believe these helped my problem solving skills are because there is not just one way to solve it all depends one the student to find a clear easy solutions rather than making every thing complicated. One of my first POWs was horrible none of it made since and it was very confusing but my more current POWs show my progress because I was able to make my work clear and make it basic and understandable for wipe ever read it. This year I could not be happier with my class because not only have I progressed in the class but I have built a strong teacher relationship and I am socially comfertable in the class too.
