.In this project we went through a long process before writing our own journalistic pieces. This process included understanding how to find reliable sources using specific indicators. From here we started to learn about the process behind journalism and big news companies. We each selected a news source we wanted to look into and from there we observed how they organized their articles and we looked for common biases. An essential part of this project was studying biases and learning how to control them in our own writing, Being bale to look though other articles was one of the most important step in my option for me to really understand where I was going to go with my own essay and how I was going to construct it, Once I found some art articles that I found interesting I was able to start generating ideas of my own. In order to prepare for my essay we as a class came up with topics we could write about and that is where I was able to start. I did background research on my topic and was able finish my essay a over a few days. We then did peer groups where we helped revise each others essays and then we started to turn our rough drafts to final drafts. Once everyone's essays were done we divide into teams such as the design team, editing team, exhibit planers and publicity teams. With these teams we each got to help prep for the exhibition. This project really brought my awareness to the process that it takes for an article to be produced. One of the biggest things this project has made aware of is biases. Being able to understand where a bias is and how someone presents it is super essential to making sure your opinions are not being swayed subconsciously. The media is something that is where I receive a lot of my information and my news. However after doing this project it has made me more conscious about the things I am reading and how they may be influencing my options or be giving false or biased facts and options. I previously had no experience with journalism before we started this project. With my writing I tend to alway use the same style but this project brought my awareness to the diversity in writing skills you can use to express your ideas and display your information. Being able to find your own information on a topic by being able to research is the most important skill I developed throughout this project. This is something I will always use and even more important I was able to learn how to back up my claims with evidence. The thing I am most proud of in my essay is my research. This is the aspect of my essay that I put the most time, revision, and effort into. I wanted to make sure the information I provided was balanced and was crucial for the reader to form an opinion on the subject. If there is one thing I could change it would be to spend more time with organizing the research I had. I had a lot more but it felt clustered when I put it into my essay so I decided to not include it. I do feel I had plenty of evidence but my essay could have been better if I was able to put the other fact in there as well. Overall, I feel this was a successful project that I can be proud of.
