Question: How has your understanding of Mexican culture grown over the course of this project?
My understanding of Mexican Culture has greatly broadened Ive been able to understand day of the dead culture on a deeper level. I learned that not on;y is there one culture but Mexico carries multiple cultural subdivisions within the nation. This exhibition was very fun and inviting I feel it was fun for the guests and students. My understanding of Mexican culture was not very significant. I've never had the opportunity to take a Spanish class and believe that this was very beneficial for me. Not on did my personal lesson tach me about Mexico but other groups taught me a lot as well. I never knew the purpose of Dia De Los Muertos until this project. I also never knew how symbolic it was. I thought of it as just a celebration but it is much more than that. Mexico has purpose and meanings behind all of its traditions. I learned a huge range of significance of different aspects of this holiday from food and art to the meaning of flowers. I thought that is was really cool to learn about marigolds and their meaning. To me they were just a flower but to the people of Mexico they are a sign of death.
