Artist statement: My artwork takes a critical view on the cultural, social, and political standards for a female figure. In my work I display the the concepts of body standards, anxiety and social roles. Concepts which are all apart of a woman's value, what can make up the assumption one forms about the female. I chose to do a photography project because I have always been interested in the subject and this project was a great way to experiment with it. To me the ability to manipulate one's body through a camera's functions can represent the way in which women feel the need to manipulate them selves. One will change their self, physical and/or socially, to fit into a environment with an expected role. In my photos I am representing the way in which people perceive women though their skin coverage, recognized significance and precise bodily expectations. In the photos of the back I am expressing the way in which people interpret a woman's skin expose as a sexual suggestion. In my other photos I am expressing the emotional state in which a woman may be in due to the standards that have been put on them.
About the Project
During this project I had to change my original idea many times due to change in scheduling issues. Most of the time when I have to redo an project or come up with a new idea I just do something quick and simple, this time I wanted to change my idea to something even more elaborate but still realistic. From my pre assessment I feel I was able to greatly
Environmental Documentary
About the project: The agenda of this project was to develop a film that can creatively express an environmental concern that is relative to our community. We started this project our by going to wolf creek to find out more out the situation and see the construction site for our selves. While we we were up there we took lots of footage of the area in preparation for the final film. Though out this project I had to use many different programs and skills which I previously did not have. In order to do this stuff I had to watch many instructional videos including a video which was the most helpful to me personally the video on how to use adobe animate to create a stop-motion. IN this project I feel I was able to express my previous interest in cinematography. For me I feel that art is being expressed in our world at every moment. To me art expresses a mood and art doesn't have to be created with the intention to be shown and displayed but to it can be anything but just depends on how people interpret something. Art drawls a mood from someone and can be seen at any moment an`d it is very important because it helps people express ideas. Art is so important that it can even be used as a form of communication. It can help display and pass on information an expressive way. Color use and other art elements cause people to react and to feel emotions. Art is one of the strongest ways to promote a message to a body of people and have them react. Art is influenced by may things including culture, physical changes, emotional changes, etc. Culture to me has the biggest impact on ones art because it is was forms their perspective. Art is based off opinion and expression the things created by ones cultural beliefs and celebrations. This is why people connect to others art in a personal level. Art is such a unique thing because it provides people the chance to feel a bond with someone with out communication or confrontation, this happens because beliefs. The fact that art is a form of communication only works if there are ideas to express in the first place, the strongest opinion someone can have is culture based and this is why art is such a beautiful thing.
Stop Motion
About the Project: For this project I was able to use a lot of new skills which was super fun. In order for us to make this stop motion we had to take multiple shot while creating a motion. But we would take so many photos per seconds to create this affect. We wanted to make the video more interesting that just our faces so we decided to go to a room with out the lights on and then we use an individual light to light our faces up but while we took the photos we would alternate the color by covering the light with a transparent sheet of plastic that was tented a different color. This project helped me learn new tools an a new program. I previously never had worked with Adobe Flash and this project gave me the opportunity to. By the end of the project I feel I learned a lot of new techniques and skills how ever I learned a lot but would have liked to work with these a little more than we did. A skill I learned in this that I am most likely to use later is perseverance. I had to use this skill a lot because we had a lot of troubles when it came to re-sizing the images and we had to keep redoing the process because we kept doing the steps wrong. I connected to this project because this project revolved around a skill I am interested in and would like to further pursue.
Photoshop Tutorials:
In this project we were preparing for a final product of a teacher turned into a creature. We spent a week watching tutorials on how to add creepy affects to photos. Here are some of my final results.
This is the Image I used for the eye color change tutorial Here is the Link to tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=5&v=Y9gNAZBbbH0
Here is the orginal image I used for the vampire teeth video. Here is the link to the tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=5&v=tFokxonja08
Here is my edited version I used the selection tool to select the iris and then changed the eyecolor by using the color balance tool
Here is the edited version. I used the selection tool to select the tooth. I then warped it into a sharp point. I then did this to the other tooth
Understanding Scale and Proportion:
Over the past week we have been working on a mini project called Understanding Scale and Proportion. In this project we went over foregroud, middleground, and background. W ewnt over the individual characteristics of each compnect to scale.I learned that foreground commonly contains images/objects that apear larger than the rest of the images. The objects are colorful. bright and tent to have a high intensity. The are often detailed and have high constrast and sharp shadows if the scene is sunny. The middleground tends to have small to medum objects that are placed behind the forground objects create a illusion of distance . Objects are seen as indivdual but potray less detail. The color is less vibrant and has a softer affect. The backround has small images that are hard to see individually . They have little detail and become blurred/ blurred together. Colors blendand there is little to no contrast. The Photoshop tools I learned were the selection tool. I learned that in a situation ofhigh contrast you shoulld use the magnetic selection tool. I also learned how to refine my edge when selecting an image and this helped me create a more natural/relistic scene.
Teacher Creature Project:
Project Description and reflection:
In the project we started by watching teacher creature tutorials. We ended this week with at least two products. I made photoshopped vampire teeth and I learned how to change eye color. After this we started our projects. We did a pre-drawing to make sure we had an idea and we then searched large images to use in our project. You can see the images i used on my proof sheet. We were required to have at least eight images and edit them eight times to avoid copyright issues. I started by getting a background and then just edited it as I went along. The hardest part of this project for me was trying to come up with a solid idea. I kept changing my mind mid project and having to restart I ended up just using my original idea. A problem i also had trouble with was skin color. I ended up having to use the color selecting tool to make the skin consistent. Something I have learned about my styles as in artist throughout this project is I can't follow a plan I like to just work as I go and come up with ideas along the way. I feel that this project did not display too much of my style because I just started using photoshop and it feel it hasn't developed. I used a more modern musician and I think because my teacher and many other people don't take them as a serious artist I didn't either and that is what made me use him in my project.
Self Portrait Project
Here is my self portrait project
When is art criticism vital, and when is it beside the point?
I feel that criticism is essential for a person to create a piece of work that a larger group of people can enjoy. When you look at your art and you a personally satisfied with the result it is much different than if another person were to look at it. Every one has their own prefrenscess when it comes to art. There is right or wrong way it is all based off the viewer. By getting input from others you are able see what would make your art more pleasing to a greater whole. However some art is souly based off the artists ideals and expectations of them self. Input would be helpful but taking that input and turning it into an actual action arn't the same. When an artist feels personally happy with their art and opinion of another could change their view on the piece and expand their knowledge on accestics
Why is it important to understand the intentions behind an artwork? A self-portrait in particular?
Any art piece can have a different meaning to every person, it is fun to make your own meaning to a piece of art but unless you know the intentions of an artist you will never be able to see the meaning behind every aspect. of the artists work. When you understand the meaning behind a piece of work you are able to develop a connection that can drive emotions to pop up. You don't need to know everything the artist was thinking about as they were creating their work but to have a brief understand of their intention is very important. You get to see their view on the world and then you can express yours. An idea of someone can inspire an idea within your self. With art you are able to have conversations not out loud or physically with the artist them self but you are able to actually influence your ideals, morals opinions, and views on the subject mater.

About the Project
What did you learn from this project? In this project I was able to explore different aspects of Adobe Illustrator which is something I hadn't done very much before. Since this project was so open ended I feel it was based off of trying different things out and changing them. One thing I had previously worked with was warping lines or using the blending tool to change the appearance of the space between two lines. This showed hr difference between photoshop and illustrator to me because it shows how you can work with lines. What are you going to take with you from this project? In this project I was able to explore new things int he program and that will help me better understand projects in the future i do and this project also helped me realize my interest in design. What is your personal connection to the logo? My first logo has my initials in it but it also incorporates mountains and sunshine in it as well. I wanted to make it simple but personal and living in colorado i though mountains would be a good way to do that. Any other thoughts you'd like me to know about your process/project/product I feel both of the logos are very linear and I was going to make a more rounded logo but didn't have the time or skills to do that so that is something I would like to later on work with.
